About me
Based in the West Country, I am currently studying for a BA in Painting, where my practice continues to develop through exploration and experimentation.
My work is shaped by the changing rhythms of the natural world, the shifting weather, turning seasons and atmosphere of the countryside all influence the way I see and paint.
I spend time in the landscape sketching and taking photographs, gathering impressions and details that later inform my work. I am drawn to fleeting moments of light and colour, brief encounters that seem to capture something of the spirit of a place. Often I am inspired by locations where landscape and story intertwine: mystical woodlands, rugged coastlines, ancient standing stones on open moors, and the small, easily overlooked details along the shoreline.
Back in the studio, I work with liquid mediums to create expressive landscapes, allowing fluidity and movement to echo the shifting light and atmosphere of each place. Influenced by history and folklore, my paintings aim to suggest a deeper presence within the landscape, a sense of memory, myth and timelessness. Through layered colour and expressive mark-making, I try to capture not only what is seen, but what is felt: a moment of connection between light, land and imagination.
Rather than recording a place exactly as it appears, each painting evolves through these layers into a personal response to the experience of being there, the quiet power, mood and mystery of the landscape itself.
